Feast or Famine

As always seems to be the case, after a couple of months with no recording sessions, I had two happen within the same week. The first was a young family preparing a birthday present for their grandparent. (The grandkids each sang a chorus of James Taylor's You've Got a Friend). The second was a short notice session in which a teenage grandchild was hoping to record a song for her grandmother's memorial service--which was only 3 days away. It was an amazingly efficient process. We got the request in the morning, and the session was booked for that same night. I learned the song an hour before the session, and the student and I rehearsed while the engineer set up mics. We nailed the song in only a few takes, and it was mixed and ready later the same night.
